We flew out to Washington D.C. It was Camden's first flight and he didn't sleep a wink. We flew out of Rochester, which was easy, but it meant two flights. Next time, we'll do MSP.
We got two seats in back of each other so Ty wouldn't kick the stranger in front of him. Cam liked to peek back.
The boys got new backpacks with their initials monogrammed on them. They loved the process of flying, especially the moving walkways.
We got a rental car and Cam got a forward facing seat. Uh oh! Now he can see Mom, but she's not getting him out! He was tired, but a good trooper.
The next day, we met up with family (Bradys, Mom and Dad, Bri, Kev & Jana, Marla and Diane) at Mt. Vernon.
We took a house tour. It was short and sweet. I think it's neat how some of the decorations on the ceiling/ fireplace (if I remember locations correctly) are farm tools.
I especially love the espaliered apple trees!
We had a nice 'night before the wedding' meal at the 'Mt Vernon Restaurant Inn'. They even set us up with our own room! The food was yummy and I got the recipe for Bread Pudding - Landon's favorite.
The next day, Saturday July 19th, 2014, was Bri and Sarah's wedding day. The sealer shared some nice words. I think I journaled them (check my gmail journal folder).
Waiting around for pictures :)
The reception was beautiful (in Wilmington Delaware). I loved the peonies. There was tons of food. Ty was in heaven!
Landon took the kids back to the hotel room for a normal bedtime so I was able to just sit back, relax, and enjoy! It was wonderful.
Breakfast at the hotel.
Mom, Melissa, Jana, and I went to Winterthur. They had a display from Downton Abbey there. The grounds were peaceful.
And the inside was very decorative.
Oh, this was a good episode.... I'm sure I watched and rewatched this proposal... hee hee
So, we started off in D.C., then headed to Delaware for the reception and a BBQ at Sarah's parents, and then headed back to D.C. We met up with Mom and Dad for the Air and Space Museum. He's Orville and Wilbur Wright's plane.
And here's Amelia Earhart's plane.
And this was honestly probably the highlight of the day for the boys ;-)
Later, we toured Ford's Theater. Mom and I went to the house across the street where Lincoln died. We also made it to the Postal Museum.
Before we flew home, we took the kids by the White House. It was a hot hot day!
Went to the new World War II Memorial.
The Lincoln Memorial in the background.
And once again, the kids' favorite! Forget these historic places... gimme a treat!
