February 27, 2016

My energy has been slowing down lately.  We've done pretty well with keeping up with school.  Last week, we tried out the Rec Center pool.  It was very cold! We won't be back there but had a good time.  It was shortened due to Cam's dirty swim diaper.

I've really needed an afternoon break and have been implementing quiet time.  I want the kids to be used to it for when the baby comes.  We also picked up a few new toys to get quiet time a little more exciting.  I even made a visual 'quiet time menu' so the boys could see the toy choices they had.  It's been working out well.  There's much less fighting over picking the same toy because they have multiple options to see and remember.  Here's one of Ty's creations that he wanted to take a picture of on my phone.  I also found the following cute picture of him, shirtless, reflected in my dresser mirror.

We finished up ice skating for the boys.  Cam, if he came along, always asked to go, too.  Here's him being silly as we're waiting for the boys.

The boys have learned how to play together almost too well and don't often ask to do school to earn screen time.  Besides playing Pokémon, trading cards with each other, pretending to be mice, and making forts, they've also enjoyed some big, empty boxes that Amazon delivered.

I feel a bit of cabin fever because the boys have such energy with 'nothing to hang on' (which is why Ty tells us he hangs on the railings and banisters).  So, this week, we went to the Rochester Tennis Connection and rented a court.  We had never done that before.  The boys enjoyed teaching me how to play the games they knew from tennis class.  Cam was thrilled to be part of tennis and even got to borrow a little racket.  He'd ask me to throw balls at his racket, which was pretty dangerous.  They all enjoyed it, and Ty remarked that he couldn't believe an hour had already passed, so he must have been having fun.

Brit finished 3rd grade math this week! He's been wanting another computer so he can play Command and Conquer against Landon.  His deadline was before I had the baby.  Just in time!

Here is my belly at 39 weeks.  I'm due in 2 days.  I've felt achy 'down there' for the past few days.  I'm guessing it's no more than a couple of days away.

The kids have been saying some funny things lately.  A few days ago, I was snapping my fingers and Cam was trying to snap his.  It wasn't working, to which he said, "Batteries.  Batteries-me." When things don't work, his solution is that it needs new batteries (which really does happen at our house with our toys and phones).

Yesterday, I asked Ty why he thought we wanted him to do school.  He responded that we wanted him to learn and be smart.  I agreed and said when he got older and needed to find a job, they'd ask what type of things he could do and knew.  Britton commented that if he didn't do much school work he'd have to work at Walmart.  Well, maybe he wouldn't even be able to work at Walmart - he'd have to work at Home Depot!

February 2016

In January, I switched writing my journal from Gmail into Word.  But I miss having pictures attached.  I felt like NYC justified a blog because there were so many new and exciting things.  But I'm wondering about using this blog again.  There are times where Landon and I remark to each other that we will really miss these days with small kids and how fun and cute the kids are.  So, I think maybe once or twice a month, I'll try to blog about what's been going on.  We'll see what happens.

These pictures were taken 10 days ago.  I'll be 38 weeks pregnant tomorrow.  Overall, I feel pretty good.  Once in a while I have heartburn, but generally I sleep well.  It's hard to turn over in bed, but my ankles aren't swollen (like they were with Cam).  It's just hard to bend over and clip toe nails and put on socks, etc.  I get winded just going up the stairs at times.  I'm still able to walk on the treadmill for 35 minutes, but it's only at 2.8 mph!

Last week, Landon brought home a wooden crate full of baby gifts from his operating team at the hospital.  It was really thoughtful! There were lots of fun things inside, but these 'swaddled babies' made me laugh.  I had never seen something like them before! They have a baby sock for a hat, a rolled diaper for the body, and a wash cloth as the blanket.  You think with all the Mormon baby showers I have been to that I would have seen them by now...

On Tuesday of last week, I had a baby shower with friends from church.  Between that, the gifts from Landon's co workers, several packages delivered from Mom, and clothes from Phil and Jan - I have quite the collection! I organized them by size to assess what I had.  Baby girl clothes are so cute! Even the boys like looking at them.  At one point, Ty held up baby pants and said, "They're smaller than my head!" or "They're the size of my head".  I forget the exact wording. Ty says such funny things and it's hard to remember the exact wording :-)

On Thursday, Britton and Ty had dentist appointments.  The x-ray showed that Britton's top two teeth will be coming out soon.  The boys love our dentist since they get a little goody bag.  Cam even got one was really excited over it the next few days.  When I was a kid, we'd get ice cream after our dentist appointments (I remember adding sprinkles and gummy bears for the toppings). So, we drove around for 30 minutes (it wasn't open yet) to eat at Cherry Berry as soon as it opened.   The kids love Cherry Berry.
