August 22-28, 2021

This week was Carson's well child appointment.  He was just looking so cute, waiting for the doctor with me, that I had to snap a picture.  He's growing well!

This is Sandi Deakins.  She lives in our cul-de-sac and spoils the kids with free suckers and gifts on their birthdays - many times they're something she sews.  She brought over a Care Bear stuffed animal for Carson's birthday.

Back to school! Lexi is in Kindergarten.

Cam's in 2nd grade.
Ty's in 6th grade.

Brit's in 8th grade.

It was time to part ways with this toy.  Cam's been hesitant to do it because he got it for Christmas when he was 2.  We've gotten great use out of it.  But, over the 6 years, it's become chipped in front.  And it hurts when Carson runs into you with a chipped front! Besides, Carson's cruising on his balance bike these days.

We went to the bounce house this week.  I cancelled our memberships (we have to go 3x a month to make it worth the cost, and we were probably going about twice a month) and this was the last time before our memberships stopped.

I've been working on rearranging the family room and front room.  This family room is tricky.

I had cut flowers from our garden and brought them inside to put in a vase.  I was assembling them, when I was startled to see a praying mantis in the bunch! Look closely above.

Carson's little adventures, episode 564: I came out of my bathroom after getting ready for the morning to see this.  Carson had taken the frozen pizza, unwrapped it in my room, and started taking some chomps out of it.  Little did I know, that when I took this picture, he was on the other side of my bed, eating the pepperoni off a different pizza.

It's back to soccer for Cam! He told me on the way to his first game, "Remind me not to sign up for soccer next time."  I kind of laughed, since I hadn't made him and it's pretty normal for kids to be unexcited about it before the game starts.  But he killed it on defense! Many times, he must have heard his name yelled (I did) because he had blocked the ball/ turned it around.  He seemed pretty pleased with himself at half-time and when it was all done.  He even told Ty that evening that he was 'the best player on his team'!

Not pictured: Cam started piano with Miss Ros (presto).  Ty resumed piano - this time he has private lessons with Anna White since his 2 year presto class is done.

I've been waking early ever since I was inspired/ reminded again at Education Week.  I slowly got up 10 minutes earlier a day and now I'm waking at 5:30 am, which is my end goal.  It's really nice! It sets the tone for a better day, having had time to exercise and read scriptures and get ready before the kids need me.
