August 8, 2021

When I look back on my journal, last Monday seems like two weeks ago.  This week we went screen free until the evenings.  It was really nice.  No nagging about who had their timers on, etc.
Monday: Playground behind Costco, picked up groceries, potluck dinner with the Bishopric.
Tuesday: 3 Visiting Teaching/ Ministering appointments.  Wow - one sister had adopted a 17 year-old from foster care (long story) and the poor girl had such a terrible, terrible life.  It made me cry hearing about it and it just put all my troubles in perspective.  The poor girl's life was worse than an X-rated movie!
Wednesday: Brit had tennis & guitar.  We had Samantha Frei Heder over for lunch, along with her 9 month-old.  She babysat for us in Rochester.  She was one of the first babysitters we had.  She babysat when we just had Brit all the way up to when Lexi was a baby.  So fun to see her.  We hadn't seen her since we have moved to Utah because of Covid.
Thursday: Children's Museum at Thanksgiving Point.  Brit and Ty tried out the high wire challenge.  Lexi and Cam were going to, but Lexi was in tears before going up and I gave her ticket to Ty.  Cam went up, but got worried and decided not to do it either, which was fine.
Friday: Tennis for Brit and Ty. Date night watching Hidden Figures.

Brit's first time doing a 500 piece puzzle.
First time using the ice cream machine at the Children's Museum.

Cam's been talking about getting a salamander for his birthday.  However, you really shouldn't handle amphibians much, because of their moist, sensitive skin.  This week we learned about Leopard Geckos.  They're able to be handled, don't bite, and are slow.  He's excited about them now - especially knowing that he can show and pass around his pet to his friends on the street.  I'm just glad that even though the gecko will eat crickets, we can feed it dead crickets.  I really don't like the idea of live crickets escaping around the house!

Ty's 300 piece puzzle.

Playground behind Costco.
Children's Museum.  Near the water play area, they have a wind tunnel.

Things I'm looking forward to next week:
* Meeting up with our Rochester neighbors, the Romanos
* Vacation day with Landon on Tuesday
* FINALLY dropping off stuff to DI... They are booked so far out for appointments.
* The Brady's moving into Utah!

  1. That high wire would scare me too! Appointments for DI? Just these days since Covid everyone cleaning or is it always that busy? Great job on the puzzles!!
