January 8-16, 2014

Back at home, Cam keeps rolling over.

We're still eating on a picnic table because our stuff hasn't been delivered yet.  It comes Saturday the 11th, which is 16 days after they loaded it.
We love HyVee grocery store. The kid care is free and I'm missing Cami Coburn (a few times, we'd drop off our kids and get lunch together in the café).

Cam's still trying to figure out how to bounce, but he likes the view nevertheless.
Landon's working extra early and late hours trying to set up his practice.  He's making templates, training people, and upsetting the nurses :-) Some of them don't seem to want to try new things but want to stay the same.

I'm getting stressed out just looking around the house.  Things got delivered on Saturday, it'll take about two weeks to organize.

Cam's eyelashes are getting longer.

Dad setting up the bunk beds. We're planning on having the boys continue to share a room.
It's weird moving back to Rochester where some of my closest friends have since moved away.  It's hard coming back in the middle of the school year when I don't know anybody's schedules and we're not apart of anyone's playgroups.  I have felt friend deprived for so long that I decided to organize something.  Many people had conflicting schedules, so it just ended up being us and Andrea Sivertson and her kids meeting us at soccer world.

We had many doctor visits this week.  First was Ty's late 3 year old check up.  Everything went great.  He's about 50% with everything.  He showed the nurse and the doctor (again and again) the 'bump' (wart) on his thumb.  Once he stops sucking his fingers, we'll work on that.  He was winking at the nurse and all smiles for the doctor.  He kept counting Dr. Lynch's questions and told her how many more she could ask him :-)
I was thinking that the boys have been very well behaved in doctors' offices.  They have been so used to going with me during my pregnancy visits over the last year.  That was the hard thing about moving so much and not having routine friends and childcare. They've been great sports.
Next was Britton's dentist check up.  No cavities.  His baby teeth roots are so long on the x-ray, that Dr. Candace Mensing doesn't think he'll lose any for about 2 years.  That bummed out Britton who wants to the tooth fairy to come for him.  The pediatric dentist's office is a fun place.  They give the kids a token to choose a prize.  Brit got an octopus that expands when placed in water for hours.
Then there was Camden's 4 month check up.  It was the first time we brought him in at the North West Clinic with Dr. Rachel Lynch.  And guess who just had his two bottom teeth pop through?! He's a solid 17 lbs, checking in at 88% for weight, 81% for length, and 78% for head circumference.
For preschool/ kindergarten, we learned about dinosaurs and fossils.  We read a few books on the topic and then made fossil cookies by pressing in dinosaur feet and bodies into the dough. It didn't work in the end because the dough puffed and lost the shapes but the kids didn't care!

I'm working with Tyler on learning some sounds.  Like the sound of S-P in the word "sprinkles".  When the cookies were baking, he was excited and telling me about how we could put sprinkles on them. But I had no idea what word he was saying.  It sounded like "burgers" not "sprinkles".  So we practiced the S-P sound and he's getting better.  I get so proud when my kids learn to speak better, yet it's sad to have the baby talk go away.

My friend Andrea Brinton had her third boy, Tyler, about his week ago.  So we had their Jake over to play for a few hours.  The boys showed him all the rescue bots and how to transform them. Important stuff.
I was in heaven to be back at the Rochester Public library.   It has been THE BEST library of all four states.  It has a drive through book drop-off.  They put your books on hold (from online) the next day and get books from interlibrary loan in about a week.  They have new kid play areas and zippered totes by theme to check out which include books, dvds, cds, and toys inside.

It was also great to visit the ABC Toy Store. It's like Amazon in person.  It's small but carries much of the educational toys I look up online.  I got some stickers, wooden blocks, and materials for homeschool.  I'm planning on doing units including plants & seeds, farms, deserts, Arctic/ Antarctic, etc.
