Bobby Brady came home with us on Saturday night. He watched Brit and Ty when Landon, Camden, and I went to Dr. Brad & Beth Leibovich's home for an open house in our honor. It's fun to get to know the urology staff and their wives. Years ago, when we first had dinners with doctors, I remember feeling intimidated by the group of them. Now, it's much easier to talk when you have more in common and you realize there's nothing too different about them :-) It was nice of 'Leibo' to host. I really liked getting to know Mrs. Engen. She's an older lady, with short dark hair, a good sense of style, with a smile on her face. She bowls with the ladies every Thursday morning during the school year. She invited me - maybe one of these days or years I will join them! She's from California. When I asked how she handles the winters here, she responded, "Happiness comes from within!"
Sunday evening, Melissa drove down with the rest of the kids. School was off on Monday. We stayed close to home. Played outside, Mario Galaxy on the Wii, and Sequence games.
They used 'sand' toys in the snow. Because Marin and Sophie stayed out a long time, my boys did, too. Then, we all warmed up with hot chocolate. It was just a quick 24 hour visit. Too quick!
Things we did later in the week included: playing with shaving cream in the tub and a trip to see Chuck E Cheese. The boys were in heaven and I thought I should come back for a date night because I was feeling the itch to rack up some tickets.
Went to the public library. The children's area has some new added features. At home, we danced and made silly faces to music.
I read some books about the desert to the boys. We got a few desert animals and used cornmeal as sand. They played with it for about an hour- much longer than I anticipated. I guess sensory things are a hit at this age!
On Friday, we went to the Rochester Children's Museum. It was packed because school was out. But we met up with lots of friends from church. It was good to see them.
Had Danny and Jake Brinton over. Britton was in heaven playing Legos with Danny.
I discovered and fell in love with the PAPERBACK PALACE. You can 'sell' your used books to them and get credit to 'buy' books from them. I was thrilled because usually I give things away to Goodwill and go out to buy more books - to keep up with the boys' reading levels. This place is a win-win!
Britton took this picture of me bathing Camden. He's still a bit tippy but enjoys baths.
On Saturday, we had date night. It is good to have them again. It had probably been a month. We went to Olive Garden. It's a favorite place of mine, but we hadn't been there in a long, long time. I didn't want to go there in NYC when I had so many other choices. Landon was on staff call. The life of a doctor - even on date night! We went to see 'Saving Mr. Banks'. I really liked it but I'm not sure how accurate it was. A quick reading on Wikipedia doesn't make me feel that everything was true. But it made for a good movie.
Cam's teeth are poking up and he's biting everything. In fact, we had to remove this toy from him when I noticed paint chips (from the blocks) on his cheeks. But it was good (for him) while it lasted!
Camden adoring Britton. Landon playing Legos with Brit. Ty was napping....
